Obituary for Angelo Scarola

On Friday, May 15, 2020, Angelo Scarola, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 91.
Angelo was born on February 21, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Pasquale and Anna (Savino) Scarola. On September 26, 1955, he married his sweetheart Claire Tufariello. Shortly after his marriage he served our country in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. They raised two sons, Peter and Joseph, and one daughter, Annette.
Though Angelo loved his sons and shared a special bond with son-in-law Glenn. His love for his daughter, Annette eclipsed all. He would beam and proudly announce to everyone that she was his beautiful daughter Annette.
Angelo was the co-owner of Scarola’s Restaurant in Brooklyn and he and his wife Claire successfully ran that business for over 60 years!
Angelo had a passion for people and recently became a Facebook star. He was known as “Big Ang”, and friends and family were able to follow his journey through his daughter Annette’s page. He often shared a “joke of the day” and was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Angelo’s hobbies included golfing, bowling, playing cards, fishing, eating ice cream and whittling new wooden handles for all his pots and pans that got burnt off somehow.
Angelo was preceded in death by his wife, Claire. He is survived by his three children, Peter (Barbara), Joseph (Rhonda) and Annette (Glenn), eight grandchildren, Erika, Elaina, Christopher, James, Lindsay, Joseph, Richard, and Matthew, and five great grandchildren, Liam, Carter, Ella, Parker and Cullen.
Visitation will be held at the Scarpaci Funeral Home 6389 Amboy Rd, Staten Island, NY 10309 on Thursday May 21st from 9am until 11am. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following.
